It has been a long, long day. We were up at 2:30 am in Pittsburgh, flew out at 6 am to Cabo San Lucas, via a rainy and foggy Atlanta, landing in Cabo, 45 minutes late, just after 1 pm. (We are on mountain standard time).
We were warmly met at the airport by Gabriel, the pastor of the church we are working with here, and Virginia, a lady from his church that has a vehicle large enough for us and our luggage. They took us on the long route to our hotel, so we could see the coast of the Bay of Cortez (on the East side of Baja) and the town of San Jose del Cabo. It was a 45 minute drive past huge hotels, golf courses, hotels under construction, and gorgeous views of the water. We are staying in a small hotel a few blocks from the very tip of the Baja peninsula. The Pacific Ocean is to the west, and there is nothing but ocean south of here until you get to the South Pole.
After checking into our rooms, we went to Gabriel’s home where his wife had prepared us a lunch of fresh tuna salad and a dish made with fresh marlin and rice. Before dropping us back at our hotel, Gabriel drove us around Cabo and down by the wharf on a little sight-seeing tour. We are now ready for a good night’s rest before we start 4 busy days of parent seminars and teacher training.
