Another overcast, rainy day in Bogota. They tell us this is NOT the rainy season.
This morning we went to the church where our education conference will be held tomorrow and Saturday. We had an Uber hired for us and met Becky and Joe at the church to go over the set up.
After that, Joe and Becky took us out for a little sight seeing at the Plaza de Bolivar where the capitol building, presidential palace, a beautiful cathedral and other government old buildings are. It was a very busy area – lots of young people milling about. We ate traditional Colombian food at a little restaurant close to the plaza.
After lunch it started raining a harder, and we ended up with wet feet again as we headed back to the parking garage, stopping for coffee while it was raining the hardest. We also stopped at a museum of a famous Colombian artist, Botero. He is famous for painting pictures of plump animals and people (often unclothed), but he also has some still life artwork. It was interesting.
Tonight we had dinner where we are staying, the Dishman’s came and also a CUR intern whose name is David. He is a Colombian National who graduated from the National University with an engineering degree, but became a Christian and eventually wants to go to seminary. He has gone through the RUF training in Atlanta.
